My name is Josh Sisson, and I’m a runner. I run 5Ks, ultramarathons, and everything in between. Sadly, I also have a history of running from problems, running from the truth, and vainly attempting to run my own life, even though I’m ultimately powerless, and God is in complete control.
At first, running was merely a means of staying physically fit and active, but now my spiritual fitness is largely dependent upon it as well. Fear, anger, anxiety – whatever the negative feeling is, I can sweat it out over the course of several miles. Don’t get me wrong. A difficult run is self-imposed suffering, plain and simple. But the peace and satisfaction that comes in the aftermath of that suffering is worth every step.
This discovery has led to an overall fascination with endurance, the grueling events that demand it as well as the everyday people who routinely demonstrate it through extraordinary efforts. These efforts deserve recognition, which is why I launched endurancebyjosh.com.
Some of these stories will consist of my own reflections on training and racing, but my primary purpose is to showcase remarkable feats of endurance, whenever and wherever they take place. My sincere hope is that you’ll read something here that helps you persevere through the toughest moments of the next epic challenge you face.
